| This is Point Bonita Light
House. It is located north of San Francisco in the Marin Headlands. This
open space is part of the Golden Gate Recreation Area. You'll find tourists,
spectacular views and cameras everywhere. In winter time you can also find
giant waves along the California Coast. The waves add another ingredient
to this picture that helps make it special.

Tips:
Waiting
for the right moment takes patience. It is called waiting for the "peak"
action. The sun was starting to set. The sky was turning colors. The last
light of the day cast a red glow on the landscape. I was ready to shoot.
It seemed like the waves were flat just when the colors were happening,
but I continued to wait. I could see some big swells in the distance. The
colors are starting to fade and here comes a giant wave at last! I got
the red light glowing off the peak of the wave. Then the sun disappeared
below the horizon. The lighthouse
also helps give scale to the wave.
I used
a two stop neutral density filter to balance the exposure of the sky with
the water. |
