Prey was created in 1983. I was reaching for more. Success was preying on me .

A brown recluse spider changed my life. I was bitten on Good Friday 1983. Three days later I was in a fever with an abscess the size of a grapefruit. Two weeks in the hospital was all the time I needed to move on. I felt lucky to survive.

I put the house on the market and I was moving back home to California to be an artist. The choice was made. The sacrifice was over.

Funny what a little brush with mortality can change your way of thinking. Why wait for your future when you can step towards it today?

All the dead tissue from the spider bite was stripped from my body and the healing process began. I would be home by Thanksgiving.

I felt refreshed and renewed and less confused. My time had come. I was on my way. The toxic poisons were being washed from my body. it was a cleansing process.
