Religions of
Life was
created by me (Brad Perks) in the year 1976 at the age of 21. "Disc
Skys" was my pen name. The 60's and 70's were a vibrant time,
with dark
and stormy moments. I was amazed and confused in a world of changes.
I took a year to complete this study of good and evil. A study of God locked in battle with the Devil. This is me searching my way out of the darkness and into the light. I saw black and white with many shades of grey in between. The central figure started as a self portrait of a clown. I began drawing and then started pealing away the layers to reveal my true self. This is what I found under all the make up I had on the exterior for the world to see. Was reality inside or out? I consider life to be a balance. It is a balance of pain and pleasure. I was learning a balancing act of my own. I am showing these very personal drawings after 30 years. I am finally ready for people to see the artist in me. The artist that found a voice in photography. I show these very introspective times of self discovery. I want to offer others hope. Out of struggle does comes strength. Life is a puzzle of pieces all woven together, with you in the middle. It is a tapestry of life. |
